Folks! New Resource Available
Paul Burnett,
Al Stohlman Award Winner, Master Artist, and nice guy, has recently sent out
the first issue of his new newsletter.
“PAINTING COW”
"The newsletter is designed to inform
you of new products, special deals, work shops, and tips and corrections on
current publications." Besides all of that good stuff, each issue will
have a leather working lesson in it. This months is a 7 page tutorial on
Leather Carving Essentials.

So please check this out. The
information in this lesson is so good, perhaps we could use it as a guide for
an upcoming work session at one of our

The Lone Star Leather
Crafters Guild would like to extend to you a personal invitation to attend the
41st Annual, 2007
International Federation of Leather Guilds (IFoLG) Show being held in Fort Worth,
Texas. The Show will be
October 18th to the 21st at the Green Oaks Hotel, right here in Cowtown.
At one time, the city
of Fort Worth
was indeed a real cow town where thousands of cattle were
shipped by rail to
other parts of the country or purchased locally to be processed at the
facilities in
Fort Worth. A small portion of
the old cattle yards have been restored and can be seen on the historic
North Side, now
called the Stockyards. You can see history relived daily as a herd of Longhorns
is
driven through the
streets by cowboys on horseback or a steam locomotive pulls into Stockyard
Station. In Fort Worth the wearing of
boots, jeans, and a western hat is not a fashion statement, it’s a
way of life. It’s
where Texas
hospitality starts with a smile and a handshake and ends with a heart felt
“Ya’ll come back to
see us, ya hear!”
Lone Star Leather Crafters
Guild is proud to be hosting the Show this year. We have a crew of hard
working folks making
sure this will be the best show you have ever attended. We have a lot of
special
activities planned
including open houses at Tandy Leather Factory, which houses the Stohlman
Leather Museum
& Gallery, and at Hide Crafter Leather Company. We have an excellent
schedule of
classes planned with
such well know instructors as Robert Beard, Chan Geer, Barry King, Jim Linnell,
Chuck Smith, and many
more. We have an outstanding line-up of free demos for you to attend where
you can learn some
new techniques or just brush up on your current skills. We have a large group
of
vendors that will be
here to offer you the best leather, tools, and accessories that can be found any
where.
Our guild currently holds the
Traveling Trophy for Best Guild Display and, reluctantly, we can’t
compete as the hosting guild. So,
the trophy has got to go home with someone else this year.
Get your imaginations working overtime and bring your
best to Texas.
Speaking of competition, we are
expecting to see the best IFOLG
has to offer as your personal creations come in for judging. In
addition to the IFoLG
competition, we will be hosting a World Class Open competition with
significant cash prizes to the
winners. The Saturday night banquet will feature an all you can eat
Texas style Bar-B-Q and some
special entertainment.
